Dates for 2004 AWMA Distribution Summit and Executive Conference Announced
Annual event will be held in New Orleans and will feature manufacturer-distributor meetings.
FAIRFAX, VA (12/09/03) — The American Wholesale Marketers Association has announced the dates for its 2004 AWMA Distribution Summit and Executive Conference: Sept. 27-30, 2004, at the Ritz-Carlton New Orleans.
"We talked to our members and also surveyed them about possible Summit locations," said Scott Ramminger, president and CEO of AWMA, "and New Orleans emerged as one of the top choices.
"The Ritz-Carlton New Orleans is a beautiful five-star property," Ramminger continued. "And we got a great room rate-$179 a night-plus a fantastic location." The hotel is on Canal Street, right next to the French Quarter.
Just three years ago, the hotel opened in a renovated historic building that was once a department store. "The property is a great size for us and has that intimate feeling that is perfect for the Summit," Ramminger said.
The Summit begins with committee meetings on the morning of Sept. 27, followed by a luncheon that will kick off the Summit business sessions. These sessions will continue on the 28th. The next day will feature manufacturer-distributor meetings, which will conclude on the morning of Sept. 30. The event will wrap up on the afternoon of Sept. 30 with an AWMA Board of Directors lunch and meeting.
For the first time, the Summit will feature scheduled meetings between distributors and 20 manufacturers. "These meetings are something that our members--both manufacturers and distributors--have told us they wanted," said Ramminger. "This venue will allow top-level decision makers on both sides of the table to discuss business issues and concerns."
Planning of the Summit’s educational program will begin in early spring, but members can already count on seeing tobacco topics on the agenda, as well as discussions on candy and snacks and distributor profitability.
