Shell and Motiva Enterprises Ink New Deals in Connecticut and Illinois

Houston, Texas-based Motiva Enterprises LLC has announced that it is selling 22 Shell-branded gas stations in Fairfield, Connecticut as part of its master plan to convert company-owned retail assets to wholesaler-supplied locations. In separate news, Shell Oil Products U.S. said it has signed supply agreements with three prominent, high-volume petroleum companies in the Chicago-area in a deal to strengthen Shell’s retail presence in Illinois over the next five years.

The Motiva deal in Connecticut involved sales of Shell stations to Connecticut Dealer Stations LLC, an affiliate of Wholesale Fuel Distributors. The stations will continue to be branded Shell. Wholesale Fuel Distributors CT and its affiliates operate over 25 retail fuel stations and c-stores in Connecticut and New York under the brands of Mobil, Shell and Sunoco.

The Shell Oil Products U.S. deal in Illinois forged agreements with Graham Enterprise Inc., Texor Petroleum and Parent Petroleum. All three fuel firms will distribute Shell-branded gasoline to both converted and new retail sites. Presently, the companies operate with brands CITGO, Valero and Mobil.

Shell spokesperson Anne Peebles noted that the retail brand conversions of the three companies “have already begun, and will continue to over the next five years.”
