J. Polep Distribution Services Acquires Lesco Distributors
Chicopee, Massachusetts-based J. Polep Distribution Services, a wholesale candy, tobacco, cigarette, grocery and food service distributor, announced last week that it has acquired the assets of Lesco Distributors in Mattapoisette, Massachusetts. The acquisition will add between $40 to $50 million to J. Polep’s annual sales and ten new employees to Polep’s sales force, bringing the number to 95. “J. Polep looks forward to offering a diversified line of products and programs to all of Lesco’s customers,” said Jeff Polep, President and Treasurer of J. Polep Distribution Services.
The Polep family has been in the distribution business for over 100 years. The original company, Polep Tobacco Company, was founded by Charles Polep in 1898 in Salem, Massachusetts. Jeff Polep attributes the success of the company to product diversification, a dedicated working staff, a loyal customer base and a commitment to superior customer service.
J. Polep services more than 4,000 chain and independent retailers in New England, according to the company, with Cash and Carry Distribution Centers located in Chicopee and Woburn, Massachusetts; West Warwick, Rhode Island; and Milford, Connecticut.
